FINAL FANTASY II App Reviews

The game worked for awhile in the past but the sound completely dropped out. Doesnt work on any of my other devices either. Tried deleting and reinstalling but still no sound. I have not tried playing the game much cuz of how boring it can get with no sound. So I cant say anything about the crashes like the other reviews say. It does need some bug fixes. Doubt theyll ever get around to it since these problems existed for years.

Love the game, but the app keeps freezing on me especially when I enter shops.

Update: love that the no sound issue has been fixed. All these one star reviews are completely unfounded I am on a journey to purchase and beat all of the FF titles in order on the App Store. At first I didnt think it was going to be as good as the first, but as the time flew by I was quickly starting to realize that not only is FF II better, its one of the best period. It took me about 30 massive hours of action packed nostalgic game play to get through the story. Not to mention all the secrets of the arcane labarynth and the additional soul of rebirth story you unlock when you beat the game. So there is still many more amazing hours of pure joy to be had. The gameplay is completely flawless. Again, I experienced none of the problems the other reviewers complained about whatsoever. The only technical problem with the game is the fact that every time you load it, it doesnt have any sound. All you have to do to fix it is pull down the Notification Center and flick it back up...no problem. Also the fact that I didnt figure out how to target multiple enemies or view the world map until the game was almost over so yea that made me mad haha. But that isnt a problem with the game thats just my fault I guess. Do yourself a favor and get every single FF game from the App Store. The nostalgic highs Ive been on the past month have been mind blowing!!!! Next stop...FF III lmllml

I bought this within the last day or two and Ive only been exploring the beginning how-to town and its frozen three times!! I cant even progress if this keeps happening because it only brings you back to your save. So I guess unless you are willing to save every 10 steps this is crap. I bought this because I thought it was a good next thing after replaying to death all the Dragon Quest games currently available (all awesome and PLEASE come out with VII and more for iOS). But now Im afraid Ive chosen wrong and dont want to waste any more money on faulty games. Ugh. Pass.

Never played it. No problems, loved it! I started going through them and started with FF2. If this is a low point in the franchise (like the stars indicate) then Im going to be a happy camper going forward.

It plays like the old one for the gba, but the app restarts if you leave it in the background kicking you out of your battle you already spent 5 minutes on, it crashes randomly. Right now Im stuck in mysidia because it crashes every time I try to leave. Great game. Just needs the bugs fixed.

Freezes constantly and has HORRIBLE controls, and a ridiculously huge image for your control pad that blanks out half the screen. You cant even play the game due to all of the freezing. Way overpriced for what an awful port this is.

Iphone 5s Crashed after naming my characters during the first cut scene. Crashed after restarting, renaming, and right after skipping first cut scene. Horrible. Im not going through this again. Do not buy. This review was written a year ago. No support. Some kind of update happened now probably to wipe all old reviews for Christmas purchases. Great game (as I recall) that receives a low score for longstanding bugs. Maybe theyre fixed now. Will you drop the cash to find out?

I cant even get the game to work long enough to make it to a point where I can save. Deleted and reinstalled; now I cant get it to work after healing at an inn... Update - game is still glitchy, Ive learned to save frequently, especially any trip to an inn. An additional point it will periodically freeze is after battles, and potentially any time you get a new character or key item. Developers should be ashamed.

Latest update removes workaround for no music, adds crashes, and uglifies the interface. This was a great app, but I strongly recommend against getting it or upgrading right now.

I purchased both FFI and FFII. Both games havent been updated in years now. With every new iOS update more issues arose with the games. But Square refuses to fix their own games. Instead of investing some money and time to have the games fixed they leave it alone. They removed FFI from the App Store because it became too buggy making it impossible to play. They dont care enough about their fans. They are just interested in making money. Not spending. 4/11/16 Update Add iCloud backup for game data. Its 2016. Its completely inexcusable to not add it to games now a days.

Using iPhone 6S Plus and the minute I get into a battle. It crashes to the home screen, every single time

Love the game but after the recent update every time a battle is starting the game crashes. Ive restarted both the app and my phone.

After the latest update, it now crashes to the home screen whenever a battle starts. It also wont show my 4th character in the menu screen (just a blank spot). I was at the final dungeon, too! Square, please fix asap!

Not only does version 1.1 crash at the start of any battle, but I also noticed they changed to the directional pad from FF1, i.e. You have to swipe in the direction you want to move instead of the much simpler directional pad that is just present in the corner all the time. Last version was at least playable. Did no one test this?!

Game crashes every time I enter a battle just like others are reporting. Furthermore, my fourth character in all 3 of my saves has been turned into a toad and doesnt appear in the game menu. Hes simply disappeared. I was really getting into this game recently and now this has put a total damper on my game experience. Oh, and the bars were fine without the "Final Fantasy II" white bars. It distracts from the game. Ill also add that the "joy stick" isnt that good. It was fine the way it was. If youre catering to those who are left handed keep the previous look and feel but allow it to move around like in final fantasy IV. Id take the no sound issue over the above complaints any day. There was at least a work around. Thank you for reading my review and I hope you, Square Enix, make haste to address the above issues.
